selecting angelfish
BUYER GUIDANCE
In addition to color, breeders will select fish to improve health, size and other desirable characteristics. The only foolproof method is to observe the spawning tubes, Papilla, on female and male. The female has a much thicker Papilla, (Ovipositor) than a male. Short of seeing an actual spawning the best way to select a pair is to view your fish before feeding in the morning. Females will have a much thicker abdomen than the male. If the fish are mature; usually 9 months or more they should spawn in 72 hours or less.
Raising Angelfish
Proven Expertise
Hobbyist who are interested in raising Angelfish & Discus Fish maybe interested in benefiting from our years of experience with both species. From selecting pairs, to hatching spawns, to deformity free growth. Although Angels and Discus have adapted to a wide range of water chemistry; hatching eggs and development during the yoke sac stage require lower mineral content. Harder water prevents eggs and yoke sacs from absorbing water necessary to development.
